Maha Shivaratri
February / March
The grandest celebration at Kailasagiri. The temple remains open all night with continuous abhishekam, devotional music, and thousands of oil lamps illuminating the sacred caves. Devotees observe vigil throughout the night in the presence of Lord Shiva.
Masa Shivaratri
Monthly
Observed every month on the 14th day of the dark fortnight (Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi). Special abhishekam and extended evening puja sessions draw devoted pilgrims from across the region.
Karthika Pournami
November / December
The full moon of the sacred Karthika month is celebrated with deep jyothi (lamp lighting), special prayers, and a profoundly spiritual atmosphere as the hill and caves glow with thousands of lamps.

👕 Dress Code
- ✓ Traditional and modest attire is preferred for all visitors
- ✓ Men are encouraged to wear dhoti/kurta or formal trousers with shirts
- ✓ Women are encouraged to wear saree, salwar kameez, or modest clothing
- ✓ Remove footwear before entering the cave temple complex
- ✓ Avoid leather items (belts, bags) inside the sanctum

- ✓ Maintain silence and reverence inside the caves
- ✓ Follow the designated path through the cave complex
- ✓ Carry water bottle for the 500m uphill walk
- ✓ Wear comfortable shoes for the hill climb (remove at temple entrance)
- ✓ Secure your belongings from monkeys on the hill path
- ✓ Dispose of waste responsibly and keep the premises clean

- ✘ Do not touch or lean on the carved sculptures and deity installations
- ✘ Photography is restricted near the sanctum sanctorum
- ✘ Do not bring non-vegetarian food or alcohol to the temple premises
- ✘ Do not litter on the hill path or temple premises
- ✘ Avoid loud conversations and use of mobile phones inside the caves
- ✘ Do not feed the monkeys on the hill path
☀ Best Time to Visit
The ideal period to visit Kailasagiri Cave Temple is September to February, when the weather is pleasant with temperatures ranging from 20-28 degrees Celsius. The monsoon season (June-August) can make the hill path slippery, and the summer months (March-May) can be quite warm.
